Future of Fremantle Port: Jobs and Economy

Good to be part of the discussion this week as part of the Future of Fremantle Jobs and Economy Focus Group roundtable.

If Freo Container Port moves (and for the record I don’t think it needs to) then several thousand jobs are going to leave Fremantle with it. This poses a huge challenge for our port city, which has spent the last decade working hard to back its economic mojo.

What was especially revealing is that the scale of the Freo Port redevelopment would be bigger than ANY waterfront redevelopment in the world.

That makes me very concerned that if the port goes most of the land left will be an empty dustbowl for the rest of our lifetimes.
